About
MISSION AND HISTORY

Our History
Founded in 1934, Slipper Club was the first women's social club in Dallas and today boasts more than 500 active members. the club was founded by Mrs. Mary Blankeny Mallon, Mrs. Lavonne "Bonnie" Compton Crawford, Mrs. Lucy Jo Davis Burnett, and Mrs. Sally Dunlap Tetreau. the women were four Idlewild debutantes who designed the Slipper Club to be an organization that would promote friendships among Dallas' future female leaders.
Slipper Club offers a unique network of friendship and opportunities for professional women throughout Dallas. while still committed to the founding vision of fostering lasting relationships, the mission has now been expanded to include community service and a charitable giving program.
In 1995, slipper club became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. To date, Slipper Club has raised more than $880,000 for local nonprofit organizations and charitable agencies. Every year Slipper Club researches and selects a different charity to support, helping to lift up the women and children of Dallas who are in need.
