Slipper Club is an organization dedicated to serving
women, serving the community and making a difference.
Founded in 1934, Slipper Club is the oldest women's social club in Dallas
and today boasts more than 400 active members. The club was founded
in 1934 by Mrs. Mary Blankeney Mallon, Mrs. Lavonne "Bonnie"
Compton Crawford, Mrs. Lucy Jo Davis Burnett and Mrs. Sally Dunlap Tetreau
who were 4 Idlewild débutantes, and was designed as a social
organization that would promote friendships among future women leaders
in the Dallas community.Today, Slipper Club's 400 members are are largely
comprised of woman between the ages of 21 and 35. Members' careers,
interests and activities run the full spectrum including fields such
as medicine, law, technology, business, fashion, the arts and much more.
Slipper Club offers a unique network of friendship and opportunities
for professional women throughout Dallas. While still committed to its
founders' vision of fostering lasting relationships, Slipper Club has
expanded its mission to include community service and charitable giving
programs. In 1995, Slipper Club became a certified 501(c)3 non-profit
organization.To date, Slipper Club has raised more than $100,600 for
local nonprofit organizations and charitable agencies. Each year the
club researches and selects a different charity to support, always an
organization that serves women or children in the Dallas area.
